Light meter
An instrument that measures incident or reflected light to support exposure and lighting decisions.
Lighting bar
A horizontal pipe or structural bar from which lighting fixtures or accessories may be suspended in a studio or venue.
Lighting C-clamp
A screw clamp with a fixture attachment used on suitable pipe or structural members.
Lighting channel hookup
A lighting document listing each control channel and its fixtures, positions, circuits, color, purpose, and accessories.
Lighting console
A control system used to patch, program, cue, play back, and monitor entertainment lighting and related devices.
Lighting cue
A numbered or labeled lighting state with timing and playback instructions.
Lighting effect
A programmed pattern that changes fixture parameters repeatedly or algorithmically over time.
Lighting flicker test
A camera test checking whether a source produces visible temporal banding or brightness variation.
Lighting focus call
A work session positioning and shaping each lighting fixture toward its intended area.
Lighting focus chart
A record of each luminaire’s target, beam, shutters, accessories, and focus notes.
Lighting gateway
A device translating, routing, or bridging entertainment-control protocols between network and serial systems.
Lighting gel
A heat-tolerant sheet used to alter a luminaire’s color or intensity.
Lighting group
A programmable selection of channels or fixtures recalled together for editing or control.
Lighting inhibit
A control that limits or suppresses output from selected channels regardless of normal playback.
Lighting instrument schedule
A document listing luminaires and their identifying, positional, circuit, control, accessory, and focus information.
Lighting louver
A directional cell or vane assembly that reduces high-angle spill from a broad light source.
Lighting palette
A reusable stored value or reference for color, focus, beam, intensity, or another parameter group.
Lighting patch
The assignment connecting control channels and fixture parameters to physical dimmers or network addresses.
Lighting plan
A drawing or document specifying fixture positions, circuits, control, rigging, color, and intended focus.
Lighting preset
A recorded combination of fixture parameter values available for cue building or playback.
Lighting Programmer
A Lighting Programmer builds and operates the control system that turns the Gaffer’s lighting cues into repeatable intensity, color, effect, and timing changes. They patch fixtures, address DMX or network devices, program cues and groups, troubleshoot control, and document the show so complex lighting can be reproduced reliably.
Lighting spill
Unwanted or uncontrolled light falling outside the intended subject or area.
Lighting strike
The de-rigging and packing of lighting and electrical equipment after release.
Lighting submaster
A playback or fader controlling a recorded group, look, effect, or other console object.
Lightning safety
The monitoring and response plan used to protect people from lightning during outdoor work or events.
Line array
A vertically arranged loudspeaker system designed to control coverage and coupling across an audience area.
Line check
A systematic verification that each audio or signal path reaches the expected destination before a live event.
Line level
A nominal audio signal level intended for interconnection between powered audio devices.
Line Producer
A Line Producer leads the budget and logistics of physical production. They translate the creative plan into a costed schedule, hire production leadership and department heads, negotiate resources, monitor spending and progress, and make practical decisions that keep prep, shooting, wrap, and delivery within approved limits.
Line read
A spoken reference of dialogue used to help performers, timing, or sound preparation.
Line set
A coordinated group of lift lines and machinery moving a stage batten or load.
Linear-light image data
Image values proportional to represented light, enabling physically meaningful compositing and illumination math.
Linked media
Source files currently connected to clips or items inside a post-production project.
Listed equipment
Equipment included in a recognized certification organization’s published list for specified conditions of use.
Live audio latency
The time delay introduced as sound passes through conversion, processing, networking, and loudspeaker paths.
Live cue sheet
A chronological document listing show cues, triggers, departments, timing, and notes.
Live image processor
A device performing switching, scaling, compositing, warping, or screen management for events.
Live production meeting
A coordination meeting aligning creative, technical, venue, safety, schedule, and client decisions.
Load cell
A force-sensing device used to measure tension or load in a rigging or structural system.
Load rating
The manufacturer or engineer-stated maximum load a component or structure may safely support under defined conditions.
Load-in
The scheduled movement of equipment and materials into a venue before setup or rehearsal.
Load-in call
The scheduled reporting time for crews installing event equipment and production systems.
Load-out
The controlled removal, packing, and accounting of equipment and materials after a live event.
Loading gallery
An elevated fly-house level where counterweights are added to or removed from arbors.
Local crew
Workers hired in the event market or venue to support load-in, show operation, and load-out.
Localization package
The scripts, references, stems, textless materials, metadata, and masters supplied for translation and adaptation.
Location agreement
A contract granting production access and defined filming rights for a particular property.
Location availability window
The confirmed dates and hours during which a location may be accessed, prepared, filmed, and restored.
Location Coordinator
A Location Coordinator runs the department’s office systems for scouts, owners, permits, agreements, vendors, maps, contacts, notices, payments, calendars, condition records, and distribution. They keep field teams and production leadership working from current, traceable information.
Location library
A searchable collection of location photographs, details, contacts, restrictions, and availability information.
Location license
A contract granting production access and recording rights at a property under defined conditions.
Location Manager
A Location Manager finds, secures, prepares, runs, and restores the real-world places where production films. They translate creative needs into viable options, negotiate with owners, coordinate permits and community impact, plan access and services, manage the location crew, and protect both the production and property through wrap.
Location noise survey
A timed assessment of ambient and intermittent sounds that may affect recording, communication, or neighbors.
Location PA
A Location PA supports the location team on the ground by placing signs and protection, holding working boundaries, guiding crew and pedestrians, monitoring doors or noise-sensitive areas, distributing notices, helping with parking and cleanup, and reporting problems quickly to location leadership.
