  • Fresnel lens

A stepped lens that gathers and focuses light into a controllable beam, common in theatrical and film fixtures.

  • Full apple

The standard full-size apple box, commonly about 8 × 12 × 20 inches, used alone or as the modular base for smaller apples.

  • Furniture clamp

A long bar clamp adapted in grip work to span scenery or furniture and carry a small accessory.

  • Furry windscreen

A synthetic-fur cover that dissipates wind turbulence around a microphone or basket.

  • Gaffer tape

A cloth-backed, hand-tearable tape used for temporary, residue-conscious fastening and labeling on set.

  • Geared camera head

A camera support head whose handwheels drive precise pan and tilt gearing.

  • Gel frame

A metal frame that holds color, diffusion, or heat-resistant media in a fixture accessory slot.

  • Gel roll

A roll of lighting filter material cut into sheets for fixtures, windows, or frames.

  • Global shutter

An image-sensor readout in which the frame’s photosites represent substantially the same exposure interval.

  • Gobo

A pattern, flag, or cutter placed in a light path to shape, block, or texture illumination.

  • Gobo arm

A grip arm with a pin and grip head used to position flags, nets, and small accessories.

  • Graduated filter

A filter transitioning from clear to treated density or color across the frame.

  • Grid clamp

A rated clamp used to attach compatible entertainment equipment to studio-grid pipe or members.

  • Grip boom arm

A counterbalanced or extended arm used to position a light or accessory away from its stand.

  • Grip head

A rotating clamping head with plates and holes used to hold arms, pins, frames, or flags.

  • Half apple

A half-height apple box, commonly about 4 inches high, used when a full apple would raise a person or object too far.

  • Hanger clamp

A lighting clamp designed to suspend a fixture from compatible overhead pipe or battens.

  • Headphone amplifier

A device that provides one or more controlled monitoring feeds to headphones or earpieces.

  • Heat-shield gel

Clear or lightly tinted media designed to reduce infrared heat reaching subsequent filters or subjects.

  • Helical antenna

A directional, often circularly polarized antenna used in some wireless audio links.

  • Hi-hat

A low camera support that places a camera close to the ground or a platform.

  • HMI fixture

A daylight-balanced, high-intensity discharge light used when a production needs substantial output.

  • Hypercardioid microphone

A highly directional microphone pattern with tighter side rejection and a larger rear lobe than supercardioid.

  • IFB receiver

A wired or wireless receiver supplying interruptible foldback, program, cues, or talkback to a listener.

  • IFB transmitter

A radio transmitter distributing program audio and cues to interruptible foldback receivers.
