Reverse angle
Coverage looking substantially opposite an established camera direction, often toward the other participant.
Reverse-service connector
A single-pole connector orientation intended to reduce exposed energized contact risk.
Revision pages
Replacement script pages issued after a shooting draft, commonly tracked by color and date.
Rewind bench
A pair of hand rewinds and supports used to inspect, wind, measure, or prepare film on reels.
Rewrite
A substantive revision that changes scenes, structure, character, dialogue, or other screenplay material.
RF assistive listening system
An assistive system transmitting program audio by radio to portable audience receivers.
RF hit
A brief audible disturbance or dropout caused by interference or failure in a wireless audio link.
RF scanner
An instrument or receiver function used to observe radio-frequency activity across a selected band.
RF splitter
A device that divides a radio-frequency signal among multiple destinations with known loss or gain.
Ribbon microphone
A velocity microphone whose thin conductive ribbon moves within a magnetic field.
Rigging Artist
A Rigging Artist builds the controls, joints, deformation systems, constraints, and technical interfaces that let animators pose and move a computer-generated character, creature, prop, or vehicle. They translate anatomy and mechanics into stable, intuitive rigs, test extreme motion, correct deformation problems, and publish systems that work reliably in the production pipeline.
Rigging beam clamp
A rated device attaching a rigging point to a compatible structural beam.
Rigging Best Boy Electric
A Rigging Best Boy Electric is the Rigging Gaffer’s senior operational deputy, organizing the electrical rigging crew, labor, equipment, power distribution, cable paths, fixtures, schedules, and handoffs needed before and after the shooting unit arrives. They turn the rigging plan into coordinated daily assignments and verified installed systems.
Rigging bridle
A multi-leg sling arrangement combining support points into a resulting load point.
Rigging call
A scheduled work period dedicated to installing, inspecting, moving, or removing rigging systems.
Rigging Gaffer
A Rigging Gaffer leads the electric crew that installs power distribution, cable, dimming, practical circuits, and lighting infrastructure before the shooting unit arrives. They work from the Gaffer and Cinematographer’s plan, coordinate with rigging grip and construction, and leave safe, labeled systems ready for the set-lighting crew.
Rigging Grip
A Rigging Grip installs and removes structural support, overhead frames, points, platforms, tracks, scaffolding, mounts, protection, and other grip systems needed before the shooting crew arrives. They read the rigging plan, move and secure heavy equipment, coordinate loads and access, and leave verified systems ready for lighting and camera work.
Rigging inspection
A documented examination of rigging components and systems before use and at required intervals.
Rigging load path
The complete route by which suspended force travels through components into supporting structure.
Rigging plan
An engineered or otherwise qualified plan describing suspended loads, support points, components, forces, sequence, and controls.
Rigging point
An engineered attachment location used to suspend equipment or loads within documented limits.
Rigging shackle
A rated U-shaped connector closed by a removable pin for compatible rigging loads.
Rights option
The exclusive contractual right to purchase or license identified rights during a specified period.
Rights window
A defined period during which a work may be exploited through a particular medium or license.
Ripple edit
A trim that changes one clip edge and shifts later timeline material to close or create the resulting gap.
Ripstop
A reinforced fabric whose grid construction helps limit tears in flags, silks, and scenic elements.
Risk
The combined consideration of how likely harm is and how severe its consequences may be.
Risk assessment
A documented review of hazards, likelihood, controls, and responsible people before work begins.
Road crew
Touring personnel who travel with an artist or production and carry show-specific knowledge and responsibilities.
Road-closure plan
An authority-approved plan for temporarily restricting a public road during filming or event work.
Rocky Mountain leg
An independently adjustable stand leg used to level support on stairs, curbs, or uneven terrain.
Roller stand
A wheeled lighting or grip stand intended for controlled repositioning on suitable level floors.
Rolling
A call indicating that the camera or sound recorder is actively recording or about to record.
Rolling edit
A trim that moves a shared cut point between adjacent clips without changing overall sequence duration.
Rolling shutter
An image-sensor readout that exposes or reads different rows at slightly different times.
Room tone
A recording of a location’s natural background sound used to smooth edits and maintain sonic continuity.
Room-tone take
A dedicated recording of the location’s ambient sound under controlled quiet conditions.
Rope grab
A traveling deceleration device that locks onto a compatible lifeline when a fall occurs.
Rope lock
A stage-rigging device that grips an operating line to hold a balanced line set stationary.
Roto Artist
A Roto Artist draws and animates precise mattes around people, objects, hair, clothing, and moving details so compositors can isolate foregrounds, place effects, or combine elements. They track shape changes frame by frame, preserve motion blur and edge behavior, organize mattes logically, and deliver clean, stable work that holds up under final integration.
Roto matte
